About The Florence Gould Gross Award
The first NAMI-FAMILYA Award was presented in 1985
to recognize and express appreciation
to individuals who had contributed significantly
to improving the lives of people with mental illness.
Over the years, the Florence Gould Gross Award
(named for NAMI-FAMILYA's founding president)
has been presented to people who have contributed in diverse ways
employers of people with mental illnesses, mental health clinicians and researchers, community memebers, family members and consumers.

Just a little bit about this year's honorees...
Bobby and Raymond Kruse, Esq.
Bobby Kruse is a long time NAMI-FAMILYA Board Member who has dedicated countless hours volunteering for NAMI. As a member of the Family Advisory Committee for Rockland Psychiatric Center she worked tirelessly to improve relationships between staff and family members. Raymond Kruse is an attorney in Spring Valley, NY who has provided valuable assistance to NAMI families for many years. Both Bobby and Ray are staunch advocates for the rights of individuals living with psychiatric disabilities.
Jeffrey Keahon
Jeffrey Keahon is a dedicated community leader committed to improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable in our community and abroad. He is an instrumental leader in Rotary, voluntering locally, regionally and internationally to provide water, combat hunger, improve health & mental health and much more. He is a committed volunteer for NAMI-FAMILYA and has been working to help the organization grow and expand to reach the ever increasing need for individuals and families living with a mental illness receive the Support, Education and Advocacy they need.
Mental Health Coalition of Rockland County, Inc.
Founded in 1996, The Mental Health Coalition of Rockland County, Inc. is a non-profit organization of mental health professionals, families, and consumers working together to reach out to the community with up-to-date education and information about mental illnesses. Through a variety of educational programs they aim to increase understanding about psychiatric disorders, break down stigma and encourage people who are suffering to seek treatment.
The Mental Health Coaltion of Rockland County, Inc. has been a wonderful partner to NAMI-FAMILYA in battling stigma and raising awareness through many collaborative educational programs, including the Annual Breaking the Silence Forums.

Last year for the first time NAMI-FAMILYA introduced a Special Award for Students Who Care
This award recognizes high school students for their contribution to the improvement of the quality of life
for individuals recovering from mental illness and their families.
