If you or someone you know is living with a mental illness and you are not sure where to go for help,
call our Helpline.  The NAMI-FAMILYA Helpline is manned by trained family volunteers who know what
you are going through, because they have been there themselves.  Our helpline volunteers will provide you with support, understanding and valuable information about where to get treatment and support services in Rockland County.
Our knowledgeable staff and volunteers are in the office Monday - Friday
from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM.

Meetings and Classes

NAMI-FAMILYA holds meetings on the first and the third Wednesday of the month.  The 1st Wednesday is a Family Support Group (RAP).  The 2nd Wednesday is an open General Education Meeting.

Come to our meetings!    
The first Wednesday of every month 
is a free and confidential family support group. If you have a family member living with a psychiatric disability you are not alone. Our groups are run by trained family members who also have a loved one living with a mental illness so really understand what you are going through.  The group will offer you support and direct you toward real solutions.  There is no need to call, just come by!

3rd Wednesday - NAMI-FAMILYA General Education Meetings

The third Wednesday of the month is our general education meeting. 
Each month NAMI-FAMILYA invites experts from a variety of fields to discuss
issues of concern to individuals living with psychiatric disabilities and their families. 
Each month is a different topic and there is always time for questions and answers at the end of each presentation.
 
(No General Education Meetings in May, June, July and August)

May is Mental Health Month
and we offer a film series a local libraries in lieu of
our regular montly education meetings.

June is our Annual Awards Celebration Dinner

NAMI's Family-to-Family education program is taught in 48 states, two provinces in Canada, in Mexico and right here by NAMI-FAMILYA of Rockland County!

Each class is a unique 12 week supportive education course that provides insights into, and resolution of, the profound concerns experienced by families, close relatives, and friends as they strive to cope with
the realities of serious mental illness.  Caregivers not only learn a wide range of information about serious mental illnesses. They also learn to understand how living with these conditions affects their loved one.

Each course is offered free of charge!

NAMI Connection is a recovery support group program for adults with mental illness of any diagnosis, one that is expanding in cities throughout the country.  Every group is offered through NAMI's network of local affiliates, is offered free of charge, and meets weekly for 90 minutes.  All are led by trained individuals who are also in recovery--people who understand that challenges we face.

     IOOV is a unique presentation that offers insight into the hope and recovery now possible for people with severe mental illness.  What makes the program unique is the human face it puts on mental illness.  Hear from people who have struggles with disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, and other severe mental illnesses. Our presenters invite you into the discussion as they share their personal experiences.  Learn More....

Mental Health In-Service for School Professionals

     Parents and Teachers as Allies is an in-service on mental, emotional and behavioral disorders in children that is offered free by
NAMI-FAMILYA to school professionals.  This two-hour in-service program focuses on helping school professionals and families within the school community better understand the early warning signs of mental illnesses in children and adolescents and how best to intervene so that youth with mental health treatment needs are linked with services.
